VisitAberdeenshire staff on the shortlist
18 September 2017
VisitAberdeenshire announced today (Monday 18 September) that a member of its marketing team has been shortlisted for a high-profile award at the 2017 Aberdeen City and Shire Tourism Awards.
Julia Heys, marketing executive, at VisitAberdeenshire has made the finals and is in the running to win the Regional Rising Star award at the upcoming Aberdeen City & Shire Tourism Awards.
Being shortlisted for this award recognises Julia’s passion, ambition and dedication towards her emerging career within Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’s developing tourism industry. This announcement comes after Julia was shortlisted for the Rising Star Award at the Northern Star Business Awards earlier this year.
Julia Heys, marketing executive, of VisitAberdeenshire said: “This has been a really great year for me; first a shortlisting for the Northern Star Business Awards and now this. It is so encouraging to see that my hard work and dedication is being recognised on such a scale. I have always been so passionate about our tourism offering here and I am determined to put our region on the tourism map. I believe my work is also going a long way to helping position tourism as the new economic driver for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.”
Julia joined the DMO in August 2014 on completion of her Management with Marketing degree at the Robert Gordon University. She has since been involved in delivering VisitAberdeenshire’s and Aberdeen Festival’s national and international marketing campaigns. Julia was a key component in undertaking the DMO’s 2016 successful rebrand and has recently been involved in helping create a new destination narrative for the region, new website, refreshed photography and video bank as well as delivering a large international tourism advertising campaign for the region.
Nikki Morris-Laing, marketing director, of VisitAberdeenshire commented: “Over the past year VisitAberdeenshire has delivered a large domestic and international leisure tourism marketing campaign for this region and Julia has been instrumental to making this such a success. It is very promising to see that we, as an industry, are employing exceptional young people that have such enthusiasm for the future of tourism. I wish Julia and all of the finalists the best of luck on the night.”
Aberdeen City & Shire Tourism Awards, which celebrate and recognise the excellence of the regions’ hospitality and tourism sector, will take place on Friday 24 November.
