Aberdeenshire rated top destination for 2023 in Good Housekeeping’s holiday top ten

Aberdeenshire has been ranked number one in a global list of the best holidays destinations for 2023 by the highly influential Good Housekeeping magazine.

In its latest ‘Best Destination’ guide to 2023, Good Housekeeping highlights Aberdeenshire’s “glorious coastline packed with wildlife” and “majestic mountains” and refers to the region’s historical royal connections at Balmoral. Peterhead Prison Museum, Glen Dye and Newburgh beach are also recommended as places to visit.

The Good Housekeeping top spot was secured following significant work by VisitAberdeenshire PR team in 2022 to raise the profile of the region among UK travel and lifestyle media. This work included the organisation of a press visit to the region for Good Housekeeping earlier in the year.

Chris Foy, CEO, VisitAberdeenshire, said: “It is incredible to see Aberdeenshire at the top of Good Housekeeping’s best holiday destinations list for 2023, ahead of iconic holiday hot spots like Aruba and the Swiss Alps.

“Good Housekeeping is one of the most popular magazines in the UK with an extensive readership, many of whom are exactly the type of visitor will love the holiday experiences on offer here in the North-east. That connection makes this accolade particularly exciting as we look ahead to 2023.

“It is also a great reward for the VisitAberdeenshire team who work hard to raise the profile of the region with UK travel media throughout the year.”

“This accolade is a great way to end 2022, but as we look ahead to 2023, we know that Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire will continue to be popular with travel and lifestyle media. Journalists are keen to explore the city’s cultural offering, the royal legacy that the area is famous for and also the lesser-known corners of the region.”
