Tourism market intelligence expert highlights travel trends in latest session for businesses
22 February 2023
Delivered by David Edwards, founder of tourism market intelligence agency Scattered Clouds, the webinar dissected the means and motivation for travel right now by looking at four main areas: economic landscape, holidays habits and attitudes, sources of inspiration and information, and the disposition towards Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire according to a recent survey.
The seminar highlighted that the volume and value of domestic tourism is unlikely to be materially impacted by Covid-19 in 2023, and that demand will be highly price sensitive, with consumers adapting their choices in light of current economic conditions.
Scattered Clouds suggest that an ‘ideal’ destination must meet both emotional and functional needs, being relaxing, provide value for money, quality accommodation and the chance to enjoy the experiences on offer.
Chris Foy, CEO, VisitAberdeenshire, said: “It is important for us to facilitate access for local tourism businesses to experts of David’s calibre to aid their decision making, just as it informs our own insights-led approach.”
The session was just one of industry development programme, a series of workshops, webinars and advice sessions that support tourism and hospitality businesses in the region. The current programme has five main topics including sustainability, inclusive tourism, and digital marketing.
Mr Foy continued: “Our industry development programme is considered pioneering in Scotland. The highly experienced tourism development team provides advice and support to help tourism businesses develop skills and products to meet demand from an ever-changing market.”
