VisitAberdeenshire shortlisted as finalists in UK-wide tourism awards

VisitAberdeenshire has been recognised as a finalist in the coveted UKinbound Awards for Excellence.

UKinbound, the trade association that represents the interests of the UK’s inbound tourism sector, held its annual convention in Bristol yesterday, with VisitAberdeenshire up against VisitWiltshire and VisitKent for the Destination Marketing Organisation (DMO) title.

Although not a winner on the night, VisitAberdeenshire Chief Executive Chris Foy praised the efforts of the fellow nominees.

He said: “We’re pleased to have been shortlisted alongside well established and innovative tourism agencies in Kent and Wiltshire and pass our congratulations to VisitKent.

“Our submission really emphasised the important link between helping local businesses develop their products for travel trade buyers, and the recent success in taking these to market.

“This fantastic award was voted by UKinbound members and making the podium  is testament to the efforts of the entire VisitAberdeenshire team, but especially to the tourism development team whose work was at the heart of the  submission, having already influenced over £1m in operator contracts for local businesses this financial year.

“We’re working to develop our growing relationship with UKinbound members and its pleasing to see with businesses across the UK travel industry voting for us.

“We operate in a challenging environment, however significant investment in the region’s infrastructure, event space and cultural offering allows VisitAberdeenshire to continue to position the North-east as a burgeoning place to visit and do businesses.
