VisitAberdeenshire’s Jill Sinclair recognised as UK and Ireland’s rising star in business events
18 March 2020
Aberdeen Convention and Events Bureau’s Jill Sinclair has been awarded a place at a global congress, recognising her as one of the brightest new talents in the UK business events sector.
Jill, Business Development Executive, was selected as a finalist in the ICCA Congress First Timer's Competition 2020, where she has been awarded registration and travel to the 2020 ICCA World Congress.
She was awarded the place after wowing judges with her presentation and supporting video at the ICCA UK and Ireland Chapter Annual Conference 2020, held at the International Convention Centre Wales last week. The event brought together more than 100 venues, destinations and suppliers attended the event, including more than 40 first time attendees.
Jill said: “I’m thrilled and honoured to be selected as the winner of the ICCA Congress award as I was up against some great applicants. I’m at the start of my business events career and I’m looking to learn and develop my skills all the time, and the opportunity to attend one of the largest business events conventions in the world will definitely help me do that.
Chris Foy, Chief Executive, VisitAberdeenshire, said: “Jill’s achievements are testament to the great work the Bureau has been doing to attract top events to the city and shire. While the current situation in society impacts on events in the here-and-now, our eye continues to be on the long term and attracting events to Aberdeen in 2021 and beyond. Jill is a key part of the team that is driving this ambition.
“Her excellent application and video were well deserving of the congress place, and everyone at VisitAberdeenshire sends Jill their warmest congratulations.”
