Aberdeen Events and Conference Bureau helps secure British Orthopaedic Association congress to P&J Live in September 2021

Aberdeen is set to welcome the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) to the city next year for its annual congress, bringing up to 2,200 healthcare professionals to the region.

Together with the team at P&J Live, the Bureau helped secure the BOA congress which will take place from Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 September 2021.

The three-day event of debates, discussions and lectures will attract experts from the around the UK.

Chris Foy, Chief Executive Officer, VisitAberdeenshire said: “The Convention and Events Bureau has been working collaboratively with the P&J Live team to help attract high calibre business events, that will in turn, bring new visitors to the region.

“Events like these cement our reputation as a top city for hosting international conferences and events and bring essential income into the city centre and beyond. We know the average delegate spends approximately £278 per day during their stay, boosting expenditure in hotels, restaurants and bars.

“We look forward to welcoming the British Orthopaedic Association and its delegates to Aberdeen and the surrounding area next year.”

The Aberdeen Convention and Events Bureau recently held its annual Ambassador Awards, which celebrates the work of academics that help to entice conferences to the region. There are more than 300 ambassadors, which last year helped bring around £3 million to the city and shire.

The British Orthopaedic Association was founded in 1918 with twelve founding members. It has 4,700 members worldwide, the majority based in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It is a pivotal organisation within the British surgical scene, representing some 40% of the total surgical workforce.
