Provenance Festival 2023 kicks-off 10 days of food and drink events and experiences

Provenance Festival, the North-east’s food and drink extravaganza, officially kicks off today with more than 100 events scheduled over the next 10 days.

More than 53 local businesses have created one-off behind the scenes experiences for visitors - from Aberdeen to Ballater and from Laurencekirk to Fraserburgh - which celebrate the ingenuity of the region’s food and drink businesses and producers, who are opening their doors for one-off events from Friday 29 September to Sunday 8 October.

This year’s festival is led by VisitAberdeenshire in partnership with Opportunity North East and includes new experiences for 2023.

Chris Foy, CEO, VisitAberdeenshire said: “This year’s Provenance Festival provides the rare opportunity to see behind the scenes and get a flavour for the incredible people and produce behind the businesses, whether that is a farm tour for the family, a cider tasting, or supper in a lambing shed.

“The high calibre of this year’s schedule of events is testament to the creativity of the sector, and we look forward to another successful Provenance Festival.”

Peter Cook, Director of Food, Drink and Agriculture at Opportunity North East said: “North-east Scotland’s manufacturers and producers are leaders in Scotland’s premium food and drink. Provenance Festival enables consumers to connect with them and hear their stories. This year’s programme of 100 events will engage more people with the work of our dynamic food and drink industry and discover more about the high-quality produce that this region is renowned for.”

Amuse by Kevin Dalgleish is one of the businesses involved in this year’s line-up and has created a five-course tasting menu sourced entirely from Aberdeenshire produce.

Kevin Dalgleish, Owner, and Chef at Amuse by Kevin Dalgleish said: "I'm delighted to be taking part in this year's Provenance Festival, kickstarting the 10-day festival at Amuse. Championing local, Scottish produce lies at the heart of everything we do at Amuse, so it's a pleasure to be able to work alongside the festival team, who are so passionate about showcasing what the North-east has to offer."
