VisitAberdeenshire launches new campaign to encourage locals to ‘rediscover’ Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire

VisitAberdeenshire has launched a marketing campaign targeting residents of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to explore the region’s backyard and bring much needed support to local businesses.

‘Rediscover your Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’ aligns with the further reopening of some the hospitality sector from today.

Chris Foy, CEO, VisitAberdeenshire said: “Today is significant for the visitor economy in the North-east of Scotland.  Local people are key to the recovery of tourism in the region. That’s why we’re switching our immediate focus to people of the North-east to help drive the local economy and for them to find new experiences that they possibly weren’t aware of.

“The opportunity for many businesses welcome back guests follows hot on the heels of self-catering and outdoor dining experiences re-opening earlier in the month. But of course, there is a long way to go. Easing of restrictions just gets much of the sector back to the starting line.”

VisitAberdeenshire has collated experiences, things to do and provided information on businesses opening times on its website. It has also created a map builder tool to help locals and visitors plan their time in and around the region.

Mr Foy continued: “Our promotional activity across various digital channels and media outlets highlight Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’s strengths for both locals, and visitors to enjoy. We’re encouraging people to travel and visit responsibly, as lockdown lifts and the tourism sector takes steps towards recovery.”

VisitAberdeenshire is supported by Opportunity North East, Aberdeenshire Council and Aberdeen City Council.
