VisitAberdeenshire calls on local businesses to boost employees’ destination knowledge with free online training
10 July 2023
Could you speak confidently about the region’s great outdoors, food and drink, or cultural offering?
VisitAberdeenshire has created an online training programme to help tourism and hospitality staff increase their knowledge of the North-east ahead of the summer holidays.
‘Know Your Destination’ modules are free and contain five modules across four subject areas.
A module on Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire provides an introductory overview of the destination. Opportunity North East (ONE) has funded a module with support from the Scottish Government’s North East Economic Recovery and Skills Fund (NEERSF) that tells the region’s food and drink story and focuses on provenance and local produce.
Two modules on adventure tourism, also funded by ONE with support from NEERSF, support the North East Adventure Tourism (NEAT) project and explores the range of adventure experiences in the region. A fifth module, in partnership with and funded by NatureScot, Great Outdoors in the City, highlights the availability of outdoor experiences in Aberdeen.
Chris Foy, CEO, VisitAberdeenshire, said: “As the summer holidays roll in, now is the perfect opportunity for businesses to boost their employees’ understanding of the region, and to encourage visitors to explore deeper, stay longer, and perhaps spend a bit more money during their stay.”
“The modules have already proved popular already among a range of businesses including hoteliers and transport providers and provide an excellent platform to upskill staff.”
