Media Getaway 2027

Travel Media Networking Event | 14–16 June 2027 | Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire

About Media Getaway

Media Getaway is an annual travel media networking event. It brings together travel journalists from across the UK and Ireland with destination representatives from a range of UK, European and US destinations to network, pitch, and commission travel stories. The 2026 edition took place in Newcastle and attracted approx. 100 media representatives.

How can you get involved?

As host, VisitAberdeenshire will curate and deliver a site visit programme on 16 June for the media delegates, which is an opportunity for tourism businesses across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire to get involved.

Get involved in the site visit programme

We anticipate that approx. five different full day itineraries will be developed, allowing visiting journalists to experience many aspects of our region. These itineraries may be thematic, or geographic, taking into account logistics and known interests among delegates. Depending upon demand, a half day itinerary may also be curated.

At this early stage of planning, we are inviting expressions of interest from local tourism businesses who wish to benefit from exposure to UK travel writers by taking part in the site visit programme.

  • Essential: you must be able to offer an experience for approx. 20 travel writers to sample. It must be something that an independent visitor can experience. So, we’re not looking for money-can’t-buy experiences, no matter how wonderful they may be. Ultimately travel writers need to write about travel experiences that their readers / viewers can easily enjoy. Expectation is that visits will last for approx. one hour as part of the schedule. Lunch stops can be longer.
  • Essential: Offers must be in-kind in exchange for direct exposure to travel media representatives. Please note that there is no guarantee of media coverage arising from a visit. However, Experience North East England, host for the 2026 event report over 60 articles published to date.
  • Ideally: you will have something new, or a great story to go with your experience.
  • We will be looking for lunch, morning coffee, and afternoon tea options.

Register your interest

Expressions of interest at this stage are non-binding. VisitAberdeenshire will follow up with interested parties during the coming autumn / winter prior to confirming itineraries.
