Peterson Energy Logistics Renews Sponsorship

The VisitAberdeenshire’s Cruise Volunteer Programme 2026 receives sponsorship from Peterson Energy Logistics for the second year.

VisitAberdeenshire’s much‑loved Welcome to Aberdeenshire volunteer programme will return for its fourth season in 2026, supported once again by headline sponsor Peterson Energy Logistics and in partnership with Port of Aberdeen.

About the programme

The programme brings together 42 enthusiastic local volunteers who greet cruise passengers arriving at Aberdeen’s North and South Harbours. With more than 70 cruise calls scheduled between March and September, volunteers play a vital role in shaping first impressions of the region and inspiring visitors to return for longer stays.

Hear from the volunteers

For many volunteers, the experience is both rewarding and meaningful. Long‑standing volunteer Eleanor Brennan, now entering her fourth season, said she feels part of “a very important part of Aberdeen’s economic revival,” adding that helping visitors form a positive, personal connection with the region is a real source of pride. Fellow volunteer Bert Swinborn echoed this, highlighting the joy of meeting visitors from around the world and showcasing “the many unique and beautiful attractions Aberdeen and the North‑east of Scotland has to offer.”

The influence of this programme extends beyond the day itself. We know that the quality of welcome and experience must be of the highest order if our cruise guests are to turn their ‘taster’ of our region into a repeat visit for a longer stay. Peterson’s sponsorship has allowed us to further develop and grow the cruise volunteer programme, and we look forward to a successful season ahead.

Chris Foy, Chief Executive of VisitAberdeenshire

Port of Aberdeen, which supports the programme, also recognises the volunteers’ contribution. CEO Bob Sanguinetti DL described them as “key to delivering a safe, quality service for our cruise guests,” noting that they provide a warm welcome and helpful information to tens of thousands of visitors each year. With a record number of cruise calls expected in 2026, their role will be more important than ever.

The continued collaboration between VisitAberdeenshire, Peterson Energy Logistics, and Port of Aberdeen highlights the region’s commitment to delivering exceptional visitor experiences and strengthening the economic impact of cruise tourism.

The passion and commitment of the volunteers is great and their work as ambassadors sets an important tone. Our region is rich and diverse, and we are proud to align with this initiative which, like we do, connects the land and sea.

Chief Executive Sarah Moore said the company is proud to support an initiative that reflects the region’s strengths.
